Why we do it
The NISS Foundation was founded to ultimately help children and persons that have sustained devastating personal trauma (cancer, accident victims, burn victims, victims of natural disasters, abuse, etc.). However, it became clear that NISS™ also needed a division (NISS Pro™) to provide tools and resources to those that found themselves in need of powerful financial tools only afforded by charitable organizations, so to exit and protect assets to be used more tax-efficiently for their current life-style and legacy needs. This meant addressing the real problems that America’s retirees were having – owning tax-trapped, illiquid assets (typically real estate or investments that no longer make sense and have served their purpose) and enabling a manner by which they can sell such assets through NISS™ and enjoy a more tax-advantaged use of the proceeds. This meant looking at programs that ranged from Charitable Annuity Trusts, Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Bargain Installment Sales and CD Leveraging programs that the general public typically does not incorporate into their planning until much later in life. NISS™ tax attorneys determined that such programs were not just valuable, but grossly underused across America and often used too late to truly help the general public. That said, NISS™ set up its programs through a continuously growing national network of professionals called NISS Pros. Here we both refer and receive referrals from Attorneys, Accountants, Advisors, and Real Estate Professionals to directly address and solve these financial problems with charitable planning tools that go far beyond typical retirement and/or investment planning to truly “Rescue Appreciate Assets™” and in return fund NISS™ operations.
Because of our programs and nationwide network, The NISS Foundation found itself in a formidable position to profoundly help both the recovery process of children or trauma and/or families of trauma, while helping the retiree in need of restructuring their assets for greater efficiency. Such programs fund our operations and ultimately our charitable good work and allow both the child trauma survivor and asset owners to benefit and feel good about themselves in the process.
